About Us

Founded in 1984 by David and Sue Karas, Skyline Roofing began with a clear vision: to offer Launceston’s building contractors a dedicated specialist in metal roofing and cladding. From these humble beginnings, the company quickly gained a strong reputation, becoming a key player in the local roofing and construction industry. One of our early landmark projects was the Launceston Silverdome, completed in 1985.

As demand grew, so did the business. To accommodate this expansion, Skyline Roofing established a dedicated workshop at the corner of Murphy and Forster Streets in Invermay. By the mid-1990s, the company diversified further—investing in advanced Sheetmetal fabrication equipment, hiring skilled tradespeople, and rebranding as Skyline Roofing & Sheetmetal.

The addition of Sheetmetal services allowed us to carve out a unique niche in the Launceston market, setting the foundation for the comprehensive and respected business we are today—more than 40 years later.

In 2003, Fair Dinkum Sheds was launched, expanding our offerings to include a wide range of pre-fabricated buildings across Northern Tasmania. Recognising the potential for growth, founders David and Sue Karas established a dedicated display area across the road from their warehouse, creating a more immersive and informative experience for customers purchasing sheds or garages.

By this time, the business had also become a trusted retailer of roofing products from several reputable Australian suppliers. Continued growth led to the construction of a larger, purpose-built office and warehouse in 2006, strategically located across from the original workshop and adjacent to the shed display area on Forster Street in Invermay.

In 2015, David and Sue proudly passed the reins of Skyline Roofing & Sheetmetal to their daughter Kaylee and her husband, Scott Coppleman. Since then, Kaylee and Scott have continued the family legacy, working with passion and dedication to grow the business and deliver the high-quality service and craftsmanship our clients know and trust today.

Today, Skyline Roofing & Sheetmetal employs around 50 dedicated team members across all facets of the business, making us Launceston’s largest roofing and cladding contractor. We proudly serve clients across Northern Tasmania, specialising in commercial and industrial projects. Built on the strong foundations laid by David and Sue over four decades, the business continues to thrive—positioned for long-term success and growth well into the future.
