Skyline Roofing & Sheetmetal was established in 1984 by David and Sue Karas to provide building contractors in Launceston with a specialist metal roof and cladding contractor. The business rapidly developed from it's beginnings becoming a major contender in the roofing and construction industry in Launceston working on major commercial and industrial projects such as the Launceston Silverdome in 1985. A few years later Skyline Roofing established a workshop on the corner of Murphy and Forster Streets in Invermay due to the continued expansion of the business.
In the mid-90's Skyline Roofing purchased a variety of Sheetmetal fabrication machinery, employed a Sheetmetal worker and changed it's name to Skyline Roofing & Sheetmetal. With the addition of Sheetmetal to the companies services, the brand developed and Skyline Roofing & Sheetmetal developed a niche market in Launceston which laid the foundations for the business as you see it today, some 30 years later.
In 2003, Skyline Sheds was established and began supplying range of pre-fabricated buildings throughout Northern Tasmania. Seeing a potential growth opportunity, David and Sue established a display area across the road from their warehouse to provide customers with the best experience possible when purchasing a shed or garage. By this stage the business had also established itself as a retailer of roofing products from a number of suppliers within Australia.
With the continued expansion came the need to move into a larger, brand new office and warehouse in 2006 which was located across the road from the existing workshop and right next door to the shed display area in Forster Street, Invermay.
Today Skyline Roofing & Sheetmetal employs approximately 50 people across all areas of the business and are Launceston's largest roof and cladding contractor working throughout Tasmania on commercial and industrial projects. The solid foundations established by David & Sue over the last 40 years has established a sustainable business which will continue to flourish in Tasmania for many years to come.
